Commercial Interior Painting FAQs

When Should You Not Epoxy a Floor?

Epoxy can exhibit adhesion problems under certain circumstances. The epoxy coating doesn't adhere well in very cold temperatures or in humid and high moisture areas like basements or bathrooms. If adhesion is poor the epoxy coating will crack and peel. Be sure to consider the precise placement of epoxy coating.

What Must Be Done Before Applying Any Concrete Stain?

Here are the main steps that need to be taken before applying concrete stain:

  • Strip and remove all previous sealers, paints, adhesives and coatings.
  • Clean the surface thoroughly.
  • For acid concrete stain, use a concrete etch and cleaner to prepare the surface and rinse well. Do not use muriatic acid to clean. It will destroy minerals which produce the color range of the stain selected.
  • For water-based stain use dish soap and water to clean the surface. Degreaser and neutralizer diluted in a 4 to 1 ratio is ideal for removing oil spots. Finally rinse the concrete well.
  • If the concrete surface is so smooth or dense that it does not allow water to soak in it will require mechanical sanding to rough up the surface so it can receive the stain.

What Types of Spray Texture Are There?

A spray texture application adds visual interest and physical texture to a wall. There are three categories of spray texture.

  1. Popcorn - Also known as acoustic or cottage cheese texture. Characterized by its bumpy and irregular appearance, resembling small popcorn kernels. This texture is often applied to ceilings to conceal imperfections and absorb sound, providing a textured and rustic finish.
  2. Orange Peel - Orange peel texture resembles the texture of an orange peel with its subtle, dimpled surface. It offers a slightly more refined finish, providing a smooth yet textured appearance that hides minor flaws and adds visual interest to walls and ceilings.
  3. Sand - Features a sandy or gritty appearance created by adding fine sand particles to the paint mixture. This texture offers a more pronounced and tactile finish, resembling the roughness of sandpaper. It adds depth and dimension to surfaces, making them visually appealing while also camouflaging imperfections.

How Do the Pros Paint Trim? Should Trim Be Sanded Before Repainting?

If the trim is new or already smooth, lightly sand it using 120 grit sandpaper before painting. If the trim is pitted or rough, start by sanding the trim with coarse, 80-grit sandpaper and graduate to a finer 120 grit sandpaper. You do not need to remove all the old paint before applying new paint.

How Many Layers of Paint Do You Need for New Drywall?

After the seams are taped and finished, we recommend applying two coats of premium paint to create an even finish.

We used TPC once, then again, and then again! They always do a great job and are quick & clean. Between that and a fair price, what more could you want?!?!

The TPC crew did a wonderful job with our interior and exterior paint jobs. His crew took fantastic care of the inside of our house and moving our furniture carefully. They were precise on edging and painted our vaulted ceiling with out a problem. Our cedar siding was no problem and they finished the job in a couple of days. Price was fair and customer service was a 10/10.

Wow, we are impressed! Our home's exterior needed fresh paint. Having painted it myself ten years ago, I knew how much work was involved. I also knew I didn't want to be on a tall ladder now that I'm past 60. We searched for local painters and got some quotes. TPC's price was good and they didn't try to upsell us. They also had a carpenter available to replace some trim. That my brother and sister had both used TPC made them an easy choice. Working with Ben and TPC was easy. - I requested Sherwin-Williams Emerald Rain Refresh instead of TPC's usual SW Superpaint. No problem. Ben added a modest upcharge which was about the actual cost difference to TPC. - I wanted to do some near-ground repair work before TPC painted. No problem. Ben brought me a gallon each of paint and primer, and a tube of caulk. - I asked Ben for advice (what would he do if this was his house) and he gave good advice, even though it meant less billable work for him. - I wanted a second coat in some areas, extra attention in others, and some areas skipped. No problem. Ben and his crew did everything requested and they did it very well. Ben, Adam and their TPC crew arrived yesterday and finished the last bits this morning. Our home looks great and we couldn't be happier. We would gladly hire them again (but don't expect to need to for a good, long time). PS: TPC's carpenter, Erich, was great to work with, too. His actual cost came in at about half of his original quote.

High ceilings with skylight work, did an awesome job. Staff was professional and cleaned up in timely manner. Was not pushy at all, upfront pricing that did not change after the initial estimate that was from months earlier. Will hire again for any future projects and came in at 1/2 the price of other companies in the area. They also completed work in one day which was nice and convenient.

The work and professionalism Ben and his crew showed was top of the line. Very affordable and would have them back anytime for another project. Thank you!
